Jim Wood

DVM / Chief Medical Director

Following completion of my undergraduate and veterinary school graduation in 1986 from Iowa State University, my wife Lisa and I spent 6 1/2 years in Moline, Illinois. I worked in a referral surgical practice where I gained much valuable experience that I brought to Glen Lake Animal Hospital in 1992.

Lisa and I have two adult children, Kyle and Lindsay. We have quite a household of activity with our animal friends. Two cats, Ozzie and Hazel, and two dogs, Melman and Lexy. They keep things interesting!!

My journey through my career has never been dull. I enjoy all the challenges that veterinary medicine has to offer, and I never grow tired of learning new things. I am highly focused on the surgical and dental procedures, as I do nearly all procedures at our hospital. The practice of dentistry has grown significantly and now comprises nearly 70% of our daily procedures. I have always been interested in the sporting breed dogs and some of the different issues that those canine athletes present to us.

Most of my time away from work is spent outdoors. Walleye fishing, pheasant hunting, and training my hunting dogs keeps me busy afield, and mostly out of trouble.
